Aftercare

After care of your pack is incredibly important, cleaning and reproofing are necessary steps to ensure your pack lives a long and waterproof life. Because we use cotton/cotton based fabrics the need for reproofing is a natural occurrence and a reminder that we're using materials which are kinder to the earth instead of synthetic fibres.

How often you need to reproof your products depends hugely on how regularly and hard they are being used. We recommend about a year after purchase. However just keeping an eye on how the fabric is performing when it gets wet will give you a clear indication - if the water beads up and falls off the fabric you're fabric is in a good state, if you can see the fabric soak up moisture anywhere it's time to give it a bit of TLC with our reproofing wax.

Step 1 - Apply Wax

Rub the block of wax onto the fabric using long, smooth stokes ensuring you leave a consistent and smooth layer behind. You'll need to apply a good amount of pressure but not so much that your stroke becomes jerky.

Step 2 - Heating

To melt the wax into the fabric it is best to use a hair dryer or iron. Place either on a medium heat and gently melt the wax into the fabric being careful not to make it too runny. *It is important that if you're using an iron to make sure it is on the no-steam setting and that you wipe the residue wax off it before using it on anything else.

Step 3 - Repeat

This step isn't always necessary, however if your bag or garment is in serious need of some TLC it's a good idea to apply another layer to areas which come into contact with moisture more often, for example the base of a backpack or the hood of a jacket.
